We have been serving young people and communities on Skye since 2004.
As of December the 1st 2013 we changed our name to reflect our ever growing on-going work from ‘Portree YMCA to ‘Isle of Skye YMCA’.
However mostly, we refer to ourselves as: Skye YMCA or YMCA Skye.
Since our re-launch as YMCA Skye in March 2014, together we continue to effectively grow.
For example our on-going work with primary aged young people: Y FRIDAY
In partnership with: Skye and Lochalsh Young Carers (donated by ‘Highland Cross’); we acquired a top-end VW mini-bus in 2015!
Trips: Parent/ guardian consent is needed for your child or children to travel with us and return it at least 7 days before any trip departs by completing it and emailing back to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Trip itinerary TBC per trip.
We have had a couple of committed youth workers serve on our staff over recent years. Over 4 years ago (November 2012) we employed Mischa Constant as our latest candidate to take the baton and continue building on what has been already established. From: 2012 – 2016 and now into 2017, Mischa and a growing team of almost 30 local volunteers, across Skye, continue to effectively serving both our vision and our communities.
Our on-going work, together with our dedicated volunteer team and various new developments with relevant local partners has played a significant role in moving our work forward. We continue to build on what other local agencies working with young people on Skye have already established over their many years of hard work.
We are very thankful that our on-going work with local young people and families, continues to be enthusiastically embraced and supported by our local communities and together we have achieved much in recent years.
A personal thank you from Mischa:
‘Thank you so much to the entire Skye YMCA team and all our old and new partners and friends for your on-going support, hospitality and warm welcome that I receive wherever I go on Skye. It is a pleasure and a privilege to be serving with you in this exciting work!’
